Scott Kimball is a California artist who created layouts and illustrations for Star Wars Insider Magazine in 2006, contributing layouts for issues 86 thru 91, and illustrations for issues 87, 88, 89, and 90. The most extensive layout was in issue #88 (the "Special All Sith" issue) article "Heritage of the Sith": the book image used as background for the article is a photo by Kimball of a book of Balzac stories shot by candlelight with the text removed. The snake at the edge is a doctored photo of a corn snake named Dizzy that belonged to his girlfriend Kate at the time, with the Sith page ornaments drawn by Kimball.
