Scimitar 2 was a TIE/sa bomber manufactured by Sienar Fleet Systems[1] that served in the Imperial Navy's Scimitar Squadron. At one point, the bomber was struck by an asteroid in the Anoat system and underwent repairs.[2] By 4 ABY,[4] Scimitar 2 was stationed on the Galactic Empire's second Death Star battle station.[2]
By that time, Scimitar 2 was flown by the TIE pilot Captain Jonus, who often flew as top cover during bombing runs.[3] In 4 ABY, Scimitar Squadron was stationed in the Endor system, assigned with destroying any ground troops or equipment that might land on the Forest Moon of Endor,[4] which contained the shield generator protecting the orbiting Death Star.[5]
Behind the scenes
Scimitar 2's origins lie with a TIE/sa bomber prop for the 1980 original trilogy film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.[6] The bomber was created in-universe for the 2000 Death Star II Limited expansion of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, produced by Decipher[2]
