The Sargesso asteroids[3] were situated in the Sargesso system, a part of the Tharin sector[1] in the Slice portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] After escaping from[3] the Oovo system's[4] Galactic Republic prison asteroid Oovo IV[3] at some point by 32 BBY,[5] the criminal Meeko Ghintee was pursued by a Tri-Mark VII Interceptor of the Republic Security Force. Ghintee then led the interceptor into an ambush in the Sargesso asteroids. There, the criminal rammed the vessel, breaching its hull, destroying its life support systems, and killing its crew. Ghintee later repaired and refitted the ship, naming it the Longshot, and eventually came to reside on the Outland Transit Station[3] of the Baxel sector.[6]
Behind the scenes
The Sargesso asteroids were introduced in Prima Games' Official Strategy Guide for[3] the November 19, 2002[7] LucasArts video game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter.[8] The guide was authored by David Hodgson[3] and published on November 26 of the same year.[9] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Sargesso system, and therefore the asteroids, in grid square S-8.[2]
