"Hu Jibwe, scholar of military history at the Salmagodro Grand Academy, notes that there is another song popularly known as 'Dha Werda Verda'—the Mando'a war chant known as 'Rage of the Shadow Warriors.'"
―Eschul Shaywa, "A LONG TIME AGO..."[1]

The Salmagodro Grand Academy was a higher-education facility[1] that shared its name with the Inner Rim's Salmagodro system.[2] Its staff included the military history scholar Hu Jibwe. The article "A LONG TIME AGO..."—written by Eschul Shaywa, published in 2 ABY in the periodical Imperial Center Today, and concerning the scarcity of available historical information on the Taungs and the Zhell, two groups whose 200,000-year-old conflict was depicted in the ancient epic poem Dha Werda Verda—included two pieces of commentary by Hu. The first comment discussed the related, more recent Mandalorian war chant "Rage of the Shadow Warriors," while in the second passage Hu contrasted the likely historical inaccuracies of popular depictions of the conflict described in Dha Werda Verda with the inherent literary qualities of the poem itself.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Salmagodro Grand Academy was originally meant to be introduced in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart. However, ultimately the section mentioning the academy was cut before the book's release. It was later published in 2013 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and[1] Del Rey editor[3] Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from the book.[1]
