The SRV-1 New Republic Scout and Retrieval Vehicle was a treaded vehicle used by the New Republic shortly after the Battle of Endor. It was driven by two soldiers, in addition to two useable turrets above the cockpit. It was capable of carrying up to eight soldiers, or three metric tons. The SRV-1 was later adapted into the Scout and Retrieval Vehicle/Repulsorlift, or SRV/R-1.[2]
Behind the scenes
The SRV-1 was based on a concept for a vehicle that would have been part of a proposed but ultimately rejected extension of Kenner's Star Wars toy line, The Epic Continues[3]. An earlier version of the toy had been proposed years earlier as an unseen vehicle used by Rebels on Hoth[4], but Kenner's new version was presented two ways: as a slightly modified version of the original toy's prototype[5], and a heavily modified version presented as concept art[6].
The vehicle and other toy concepts were added to the Legends continuity in "The Battle of Cadinth" story and roleplaying game article from Star Wars Galaxy Magazine 2.[2]
