The Ruhnuk Mining Disaster, also known as the Catastrophe on Ruhnuk, was an event on the planet Ruhnuk that had a significant impact on Gatressa Mining Conglomerate operations and led to extensive navigation interference and unreliable communication caused by a lingering storm.[3]

Prelude

Initially successful in extracting calcite and derillium, mining operations later experienced a significant decline in output and was reduced to well below expectations due to the primary sources were mostly used and mining output redirected towards infrastructure construction on the planet's surface. The situation was made worse by the arrival of an unusual nebula surrounding around the planet.[3]

The disaster

The arrival of an unexpected nebula triggered dust storms and energy disruptions, causing communication interference. As a result, the construction droids lost connection to the master control systems. The workers on the ground suffered heavy losses, and those who survived found themselves in a hostile environment.[3]

Despite the chaos, Project Overseer Fent Jucalla prioritized evacuating the surviving workers, ensuring their safety during the disaster. Although it resulted in abandonment of equipment and tremendous losses of investment, efforts were focused on rescuing workers on Ruhnuk.[3]

Aftermath

Records from trade hubs indicated that ore shipments from Ruhnuk ceased following the disaster. The powerful ionic storm continued to cover the planet and its surroundings.[2]
