Ruckle was a droid that operated during the Clone Wars,[2] a galactic conflict fought between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and Galactic Republic.[3] It had four spider-like legs, but was capable of standing on just two of them and using its other legs as arms. Atop its head was a single antenna.[2]

The droid had red sensors on its front side, with teal and gray plating on its head. Ruckle's body plating was white, with a yellow streak near the top.[2]

Ruckle would have appeared in production code episode 5.24 of the unfinished bounty hunter arc of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series. The droid was first identified and depicted in concept art by Will Nichols, dated February 2012, which Nichols uploaded to his online portfolio in 2018, along with another piece of artwork showcasing different design options for Ruckle.[2]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 In Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, the astromech droid R2-D2 is said to be 1.08 meters tall. In Ruckle's concept art, the droid is pictured next to R2-D2, and is shown to be shorter than the astromech when on all four legs, and taller when Ruckle's antenna is taken into account and it stands on two legs. As such, Ruckle must be under 1.08 meters when in the former position, and over 1.08 meters when in the latter.
