- "You call these bugs? Back on on Danos V they got sting insects the size of a house."
- ―Rojo Barant
Rojo Barant was a Human male scout and member of the Rebel Alliance. He was stationed at Edan Base during an Imperial siege of the facility on Edan II.
Biography
Rojo Barant was a Rebel scout stationed at Edan Base, on Edan II. Between patrols, he often hung out in the landing bay, working on his speeder bike. When a sentry on Sentry Post A9 noticed that something entered the atmosphere, Commander Drayson was immediately informed. He then requested Barant, to check this crashed escape pod out. It turned out to be a probe droid.[1]
Personality
Rojo Barant never talked much and never saw much reason to. Most of the time, he did not have anyone to talk to. He had a strong sense of humor, which frequently showed through. He was tough and proud of his abilities. He spent his days under the high, wide skies of virgin planets, pitting himself against the wilderness. Barant was open to unexplored planets, discovering the dangers and learning how to deal with them. He figured out how to survive the strange weather, dangerous beasts, and rugged terrain of whole new worlds.[1]
He would have still be doing that if the Empire had let him. However, the Empire had cut back on exploration, citing high costs. Barant believed that freedom was an artifact of a frontier, people could not be controlled if they could always move freely. Furthermore, he felt that if someone wanted to impose tyranny on a galaxy, the way to do it would be to stop people from moving by closing the frontier. Faced with this realization, Barant saw no alternative but to join the Rebellion. He knew a dozen planets like the back of his hand and had the skills to survive anywhere. Whether it was setting up on an ice planet or navigating through hazardous landscapes, Barant became an invaluable asset to the Alliance.[1]
Equipment
Rojo Barant's equipment consisted of a backpack, a blastor pistol, and a knife. He also carried two medpacs and a week's worth of concentrated ration. Additionally, he had 1,000 credits on hand for any necessary expenses.[1]
