The Rodian rot-worm was a parasitic worm[1] that shared its name with Rodia, a planet of jungle and oceans[2] located in the Savareen sector of the Outer Rim Territories,[3] as well as its native Rodian species of sentient[2] reptilians.[4] Its name was also similar to that of rotworms, which lived on the swamp planet Dagobah[5] in the Outer Rim's Sluis sector.[2] By 3630 BBY,[6] excretions from drutash grubs[1] that could be found on the planet Sullust[7] in the Outer Rim's Brema sector[8] were being used in folk medicine to cure parasitic infections such as that caused by the Rodian rot-worm.[1]
That year,[6] an individual affiliated with one of the sides in the ongoing struggle between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire sent a companion to investigate the scientific validity of that practice, with the latter individual subsequently collecting biochemical samples.[1]
