- "Make sure he doesn't see my tiles."
- ―Cassian Andor, while playing rianza
Rianza[2] was a tile game that could be played by multiple individuals.[1] It was a fast-paced game involving both betting and bluffing. The game featured plated tiles[3] with numerical values, with some tiles valued as three, five, or ten. Players would take turns betting and playing tiles. Players would have revealed tiles placed on the board in a connected arrangement that all other players could see and also had their own hidden tiles that were facedown.[1] Players would declare "Decio!" upon winning.[3]
Rianza was popular among rebel soldiers at the Alliance base on Yavin 4. By 1 BBY, the rebels Cassian Andor, Ruescott Melshi, and K-2SO had played 863 games together. According to K-2SO, Andor had cheated at the game at least once. In 1 BBY, the trio were played a game of rianza in which Melshi made a large bid that surprised K-2SO. As the group bantered about Melshi's strategy and the two humans continued to drink revnog, K-2SO continued to affirm that Melshi's risk was very out of character. Just then, Andor's friend Wilmon Paak arrived and presented his fractal radio, which had been contacted by their former rebel associate Kleya Marki. As Paak placed the radio on the table, the players warned Paak not to mess up the rianza board.[1]
Behind the scenes

Rianza appeared in "Who Else Knows?," the eleventh episode in the second season of the live-action television series Andor.[1] The episode premiered on May 13, 2025. Although it was not identified in the episode, the name rianza was revealed in a StarWars.com trivia article posted after the episode's release. Rianza was created by the show's arts and graphics department, with graphic designer Elle McKee designing the physical tiles. The look of the game was inspired by the real-world games of Mahjong and dominoes. McKee also designed a full set of rules for the game.[2] Twenty-eight different tiles with various values were designed for the game.[4]
