"The result was a funding collapse in artistic pursuits and the blacklisting of some extremely high-profile artists, performers, and musicians who fell afoul of the new regulations. This included some of the leading gonk-rock groups of Bormea sector, who regularly had their venues closed or raided, and the overtly anti-Imperial band Red Shift Limit."
―Beaumont Kin, The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[1]

Red Shift Limit was a high-profile band that was overtly opposed to the Galactic Empire during its reign. Because of this, the band did not meet the artistic regulations of the Empire's Coalition for Progress and so was blacklisted, although this resulted in increased underground appeal for the band. The historian Beaumont Kin mentioned the band in[1] his[2] book The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire[1] in 35 ABY.[3]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, Red Shift Limit was mentioned in the 2024 reference book Star Wars: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire, which was written by Dr. Chris Kempshall.[1] The band originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in Galaxy Guide 9: Fragments from the Rim, a 1993 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game written by Simon Smith and Eric S. Trautmann and published by West End Games.[4]
