A Ray accelerator, was a versatile processor that could be used in blasters. It could be used to modify the rate of fire and power of a VM-19 heavy blaster pistol. It was also used in the manufacture of ion smoke grenades.[1]

During 3 ABY,[2] the Quarren rogue merchant Shuma sold the ray accelerator on various worlds from her Sienar-Chall Utilipede Transport for 210 credits.[1] During the same year,[2] a Pantoran on Toshara named Belo Roovin and an Aqualish on Akiva named Lunda Nyside sold ray accelerators for the same price.[1]

Kay Vess used ray accelerators to modify her VM-19 heavy blaster pistol and construct ion smoke bombs[1] in 3 ABY.[2]

Ray accelerators first appeared as weapon upgrade components in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlawsby Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft.[1]
