Radiation grenades were small explosives that were either thrown or launched from a grenade launcher. On impact, a radiation grenade detonated in a burst of light smoke, releasing a cloud of short-lived radioactive particles that immediately sickened and weakened targets.[1] The radiation grenade had a 3-meter blast radius and bypassed most conventional armors and shields; because of this they were considered highly illegal and were used by only the most depraved or desperate armies.[1][2] Radiation sickness would persist and progressively worsen until it was cured.[2]
The grenade was used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars against the Republic clone troopers and their Jedi leaders.
