R4-W9 was an R4 astromech droid with an exceptional map of hyperlanes and asteroid belts of the region of the planet Formos in the Outer Rim Territories. The Aqualish smuggler Bandin Dobah wanted this map and stole the droid and entrusted him to Daro Blunt. A group of adventurers, on the trail of Dobah, managed to release him. He rewarded them by giving the location of Dobah's hideout.
