A Pyke exo-helmet,[1] also called simply a Pyke helmet[2] was a type of wraparound helmet worn by members of the Pyke Syndicate during the reign of the Galactic Empire.[2] The helmet mimiced the shape of a Pyke's skull and included short breathing tubes which extended from the lower part of the face plate.[1] The Pyke administrator Quay Tolsite wore one such helmet while overseeing the Syndicate's spice mines on the planet Kessel in 10 BBY.[3]
By 3 ABY,[4] Pyke Syndicate enforcers wore the helmet on various worlds around the galaxy, including on the planets Akiva, Kijimi, and Tatooine and the moon Toshara.[2]
In 3 ABY,[4] the thief Kay Vess stole a Pyke helmet from the Pyke Syndicate workshop in the Mirage region on Toshara.[2]
Behind the scenes
The Pyke exo-helmet appeared in the 2018 Star Wars Anthology film Solo: A Star Wars Story.[5] Prior to the film's release on May 25, the helmet was shown in Solo: A Star Wars Story | "Making Solo" Featurette trailer released on May 15.[6] The helmet was identified as a Pyke exo-helmet in the reference book Solo: A Star Wars Story The Official Guide released the same day as the film.[1] The helmet was identified as simply a "Pyke helmet" in the 2024 video game Star Wars Outlaws, developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft. In the game, the helmet was a collectible trophy which players could use to customize the apperance of their S57 Cardinal speeder bike.[2]
