- "Two recent human projects—the miners created for Tarshan Ring Excavations and the infiltration squads requested by the Lords of Purala IV—began with trials of sterile clones, as requested by both customers."
- ―Hali Ke's internal memorandum
Purala IV was an astronomical object[2] located in the Purala system, a part of the Outer Rim Territories' Kibilini sector.[1] At some point by 27 BBY, the Lords of Purala IV requested that the Kaminoan cloners of[2] the planet Kamino[3] create Human clones who would serve the Puralan nobles as members of infiltration squads. In 27 BBY,[2] the Kaminoan[4] geneticist Hali Ke noted the request of the Lords of Purala IV in an internal memorandum.[2]
Behind the scenes
Purala IV was originally meant to be mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the sidebar that would have mentioned the celestial body was cut before the book's release.[2]
The information regarding the astronomical object was later released in 2014 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and[2] Del Rey editor[5] Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[2] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Purala system, and therefore Purala IV, in grid square Q-17.[1]
