Project Chimera was a research team from the Imperial Science Bureau that attempted to investigate the corrupting effects that the Nightmare Lands, a region on the planet Voss, exerted on offworld wildlife. They successfully exposed non-native wildlife to the Nightmare Lands, but succumbed to the effects themselves; as the team's research was crucial to ongoing Imperial operations in hazardous environments on Aaris III and Sebiris, the Science Bureau issued a bounty asking for the retrieval of the team's data.[1]

Annihilation establishes that the Treaty of Coruscant collapsed approximately eighteen months prior, or in 3641 BBY, and as Act III occurs after the treaty's collapse, the act begins sometime between 3641 BBY and 3640 BBY. This article assumes that Voss, as the middle of Act III, takes place around the start of 3640 BBY.
