A facility was built by the Galactic Empire on the planet Malpaz during the Imperial Era. Erected on a hill overlooking the planet's capital city, the facility was used by a team of ten scientists, including the computer engineer specialist Dagio Belcoze and Professor Sahali, involved with Project Celestial Power. The facility hoped to replicate the experiments occurring in a sister facility on the planet Coruscant and thus involved a massive kyber crystal. When one of the experiments went awry, the facility was destroyed in a series of large explosions. Although the research team was able to evacuate, the destruction caused over ten thousand citizens from the capital city to be killed, with more destruction ensuing due to the city's nuclear power plant being damaged in the firestorm.[1]
