Prateon was a hypothetical, mysterious, invisible, and scarcely studied element, the existence of which was not yet proved. Nevertheless, it was believed that it was a channel of rising prateon that caused the landing spacecraft on Dagobah to lose control, slow down and be pulled down as if by remote control until the lower altitudes, where the control was resumed.[1]
