Porvay Yan was a scavenger on the desert planet Jakku who discovered a flight-worthy shuttle attached to a Mon Calamari Cruiser in the Starship Graveyard, an area littered with wrecks dating back to the Battle of Jakku[1] in 5 ABY.[2] Yan traded the shuttle for a ticket offworld and left Jakku. A decade later, the scavenger Rey mentioned Yan in a survival guide that[1] she[2] compiled[1] by 34 ABY[3] while living on Jakku.[1]
