A Portable plasma shield was a specialized type of bracer-mounted personal energy shield.[1]
Characteristics
A portable plasma shield consisted of a small bracer-mounted plasma shield generator, that, when activated, emitted a radial shield capable of blocking physical and energy attacks. Offering near-impenetrable defense while requiring much less weight and bulk than a traditional shield, a portable shield could be further modified to be stronger and larger, though full-body protection was usually prohibitive due to the need for an oversized emitter and power cell. While active, a portable shield could interfere with a soldier's weapons, as soldiers had to strike around the solid edge of the shield. Though solid, the weightless shield could not be used as an effective melee weapon. Two models of portable plasma shield were the Mili-Corp PS-8C Plasma Buckler & Krail 99 Guardian System.[1]
