- "Get ready to eat your words, ND. The map's buried under some palm trees! I just have to find it."
"And do you have a portable geoscanner to find it with?"
"I don't need one. I've got… eyes." - ―Kay Vess and ND-5
Portable geoscanners were a type of portable scanner that could be used to locate buried objects.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] the thief Kay Vess contacted her companion ND-5 over comms after discovering the location of a map she was searching for on the planet Akiva, informing him that it was buried beneath a group of palm trees. When ND-5 asked if she had a portable geoscanner that she could use to find the buried object, Vess retorted that she only needed her eyes to find it, which proved to be correct.[1]
Behind the scenes
Portable geoscanners were mentioned in the "A Pirate's Fortune" expansion for Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws,[1] which released on May 15, 2025.[3]
