A port shield[2] was a blue energy screen that maintained atmosphere on an asteroid. During the New Republic Era, one such shield was utilized on Borgo Prime. While separating the breathable area from realspace, it still allowed space dinghies to pass through.[1]

Behind the scenes

First portrayed in a trailer on August 9, 2024,[3] a port shield made its canonical debut in "Way, Way Out Past the Barrier,"[1] a Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode that aired on December 2, 2024.[4] The name of the device was provided in the Disney+ audio description of the episode, narrated by Jedediah Barton.[2]
