"Palpatine is a populist. The reason he appeals to worlds like Troithe is because people there see him making real changes in their lives. He cracked down on the corporations. He ended the war. He's promising that the era of out-of-touch politicians and twelfth-generation nobility shaping the galaxy for their own benefit is over."
Lud Marroi[1]

Populist was term that could be used to describe politicians who appealed to the common people of the galaxy.[1]

Count Dooku relied on populist messaging during the Separatist Crisis.[2] The Commission for the Protection of the Republic was a populist organization within the Galactic Republic that operated during the Clone Wars and, afterward, was transformed into the Galactic Empire's Commission for the Preservation of the New Order.[3] In 19 BBY,[4] Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine was described as a populist due how his policies were perceived.[1]

PenguinRandomHouse-Logo Star Wars: Edge of the Abyss on Penguin Books' official United Kingdom website (backup link) establishes the events of Reign of the Empire: The Mask of Fear take place thirteen years before the events of Reign of the Empire: Edge of the Abyss. Instagram-Logo Rebecca Roanhorse (@rebeccaroanhorse) on Instagram (post): "Title and updated release date of my upcoming STAR WARS novel announced at SDCC. THE EDGE OF THE ABYSS takes place a year before Andor S1." (backup link) states that Edge of the Abyss takes place a year before the events of Andor Season 1, which are set in 5 BBY per the reasoning here. Therefore, the events of Edge of the Abyss must be set in 6 BBY, and the events of The Mask of Fear in 19 BBY.
