A ponipin astrogator,^[1] also known as a ponipin, was a compact device used to analyze astronomical objects and phenomena. Chewbacca gave one to Han Solo on Takodana, who used it to study the effects of the Hosnian Cataclysm, the device linking to more powerful stellar navigation instrumentation aboard the Millennium Falcon. It provided a real-time reading of that area of the galaxy, and the ponipin's lens generated statistics and readouts to create a picture of what was occurring in the Hosnian system.^[2]

A ponipin astrogator fell into the possession of Jedi Master Luke Skywalker, who lived in seclusion on the planet Ahch-To as the last Jedi.^[3]
