A phalanx was a type of military formation in ground^[1] and space. During the High Republic Era, the Eriaduan flotilla was also considered to be a phalanx of Eriaduan cruisers.^[2] During the Clone Wars, the phalanx was used by the Separatist Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems against the Galactic Republic. It was characterized by deploying battle droids in long columns that marched across a battlefield or against enemies that were entrenched. It overwhelmed enemy defenders by large, overwhelming force.^[1]
