A performance chip was a droid component. While serving onboard the Resistance MC85 Star Cruiser Raddus, the BB-series astromech droid MB-12 was ordered to report to the vessel's repair bay to have its performance chip replaced and diagnostics run.[1]

Performance chips were first mentioned in the Star Wars: Datapad application[1] launched as part of the themed land Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, which opened to guests at Disneyland Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios in 2019.[2]
