- "I ended up winning an Academy Award for Star Wars before I'd even started thinking about winning Academy Awards."
- ―Paul Hirsch, about the unexpected success of Star Wars
Paul Hirsch is a motion picture editor. In 1978, he, along with Richard Chew and Marcia Lucas, won the Academy Award for Film Editing for his work on Star Wars.
He is credited for coining the phrase "It's sound people, or worse!" to chide the sound crew whenever they appeared, paraphrasing Luke Skywalker's line about the Sand People in Star Wars. Inspired from this, the sound crew designed and wore t-shirts with this phrase, depicting a Tusken holding a boom pole instead of a Gaderffii stick.[2]
