Palis was a Duros male who worked for the corporation Galactic Exploitation Technologies as the captain of the Ormni, an asteroid crusher that operated in the Chiloon Rift nebula.[1]
In 45 ABY, a ScragHull commando boat piloted by Jedi Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa Solo crashed into the Ormni, coming to rest wrecked within the vessel's production vault. Palis, concerned that repairs would halt production and cost hundreds of millions of credits in lost revenue, assumed the Jedi had perished when the impact detonated the ScragHull's fusion core. He ordered droids to decontaminate and secure the vault. GET security chief Savara Raine, however, criticised him for failing to search for survivors—pointing to evidence that Skywalker and Organa Solo had in fact survived the crash.[1]
