- "That's where Ossus is. Jedi get crystals from the Adega system to build their lightsabers... we have for hundreds of years."
- ―Tau Idair
The Adega system, also known as the Adegan system, was one of the six remaining Auril systems. Located in the Auril sector of the Outer Rim Territories, it was once a major center for Jedi activities. It contained two suns, Adega Prime and Adega Besh, around which the planet Ossus orbited in a figure-eight trajectory. The system was once the main source of Adegan crystal, used in the earliest Jedi lightsabers, before the discovery of Ilum.
Bodo Baas, later gatekeeper of the Tedryn Holocron, was part of a Jedi band that lived there around 600 BBY. Alfonso Luiz Obota was also from the system. Indigenous life in the system included the Adegan eel.
Behind the scenes
The 1998 PC game Star Wars: Rebellion includes a planet named Adega among the game's playable worlds, which it places in the Moddell sector of the Outer Rim.[3]
The Essential Atlas in 2009 describes Adega as being a "world near Ossus," which would naturally seem to place it in the Adega system. However, despite this mention of Adega in the entry for Ilum, The Essential Atlas does not list it among the planets of the Adega system in the entry for Ossus.[1] Jason Fry, author of The Essential Atlas, confirmed the placement of Adega in the Adega system but was not able to provide an explanation for the discrepancy in the Atlas.[5]
