Orpali dragons were a rare species of lizard that was considered a delicacy by the Hutts. Orpali dragons were bred and grown in captivity, killed in infancy, and then traditionally served on a bed of glazed chuba eyes. At least a century before the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire orpali dragons were on the menu for the centennial feast of Bakuush the Hutt, but several dragon hatchlings escaped from Bakuush's palace through the sewers into the toxic swamps of the planet Nal Hutta, where they eventually evolved into chemilizards.[1]
Behind the scenes
Orpali dragons were first mentioned in the Codex entry for chemilizards in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare in 2011.[2]
