Ord Varee was a Mid Rim planet situated in the Belshar sector. Serving as a Galactic Republic Ordnance/Regional Depot outpost during the Pius Dea Era, millennia later it loosened its immigration restrictions for people displaced by the Separatist Crisis. Eventually the planet became a part of the New Republic.

Description

Ord Varee was a planet[4] situated in the Ord Varee system, which was a part of the Belshar sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1] It lay between the Belshar Othacuu and Kalaan systems on the Namadii Corridor hyperlane.[3]

History

During the Pius Dea Era, a period of time that lasted between approximately 12,000 BBY and 11,000 BBY, Ord Varee was an Ordnance/Regional Depot outpost of the Galactic Republic. It was located outside the Republic's borders, within what was at the time considered Wild Space.[3]

The Refugee Resettlement Coalition, a group of planets willing to resettle on their surface galactic citizens displaced by the then-ongoing Separatist Crisis, was formed around 13:3. Ord Varee became a member of the coalition and was one of the group's ten Mid Rim worlds to loosen their immigration restrictions for said people, with that fact being noted in the 13:4:18 issue of the CoCo District Edition of the HoloNet News.[4] Ord Varee was a part of the New Republic between 12 ABY and 13 ABY.[3]

According to official census records,[4] in 22 BBY[5] Ord Varee's population numbered 3.1 billion.[4]

Behind the scenes

Ord Varee was introduced in HoloNet News Vol. 531 #52, an issue of the representation of the in-universe HoloNet News[4] that was written by Pablo Hidalgo and Paul Ens[6] and published by April 18, 2002.[7] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Ord Varee system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square J-7.[2]
