- "Technical Lt. Makkor von Urron was a double TIE ace by age 18, racking up 11 kills against insurgent Y-wings around Oovri II before a lucky shot took out his knee and put him out of action."
- ―"Aces of the Empire"
Oovri II was a celestial body[3] located in the Oovri system, a part of the Tungra sector[1] in the Western Reaches portion of[2] the Outer Rim Territories.[1] At some point during the reign of the Galactic Empire, Imperial TIE fighter pilot Makkor von Urron participated in a skirmish over Oovri II against a group of insurgents' Y-wing starfighters. During the engagement, von Urron shot down eleven of the enemy craft before himself suffering an injury. The pilot's exploit at the skirmish was later mentioned as part of a short profile included in[3] a 3 ABY[4] edition of the Imperial propaganda medium "Aces of the Empire."[3]
Behind the scenes
Oovri II was originally meant to be mentioned in the 2012 reference book The Essential Guide to Warfare by Jason Fry and Paul R. Urquhart; however, the section that would have mentioned the celestial body was cut before the book's release. The information regarding Oovri II was later released in 2014 as part of Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare Author's Cut, a series of articles published on the StarWars.com Blog by Fry and[3] Del Rey editor[5] Erich Schoeneweiss containing various cut content from The Essential Guide to Warfare.[3] The StarWars.com Online Companion to the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Oovri system, and therefore Oovri II, in grid square K-18.[1]
