Ongmuel

Ongmuel was a type of tree with a brown trunk and dark green leaves. It was native to the forests and plains of the planet Dathomir. The Singing Mountain Clan of the Witches of Dathomir used the leaves of the Ongmuel for their healing properties, while the Nightsister coven utilized them to cause harm.^[1]

This section of the article assumes 100% game completion of Star Wars Galaxies. Any alternate stories may be noted in the "Behind the scenes" section. The events in this section may or may not have been confirmed as canon within the Star Wars Legends continuity.

In 1 ABY,^[2] during the Galactic Civil War, the Dathomirian witch Rubina asked a spacer to infiltrate either the Singing Mountain Clan or the Nightsisters,^[3] which resulted in the individual gathering Ongmuel leaves.^[1]

Behind the scenes

Ongmuel first appeared in the 2003 massively multiplayer online role-playing game, Star Wars Galaxies.^[4] The tree was identified in the "Toil and Trouble" mission of the "Witches of Dathomir Theme Park" update,^[1] completely released on December 14, 2010.^[5]

In the Prologue for the Theme Park,^[1] released on November 4, 2010,^[6] which contains a slightly similar story to the final release, Rubina assigns the player to gather Ongmuel leaves as well as several other plants to gift to either the Singing Mountain Clan or the Nightsisters. After the player acquires three of each plant, they place them in a storage basket and deliver them to their clan of choice.^[1]

In the final release of the Theme Park, Rubina does not assign the mission and instead influences the player to infiltrate either the Nightsisters or Singing Mountain Clan.^[7] If the player chooses the Nightsisters, the player may meet the Nightsister herbalist Satra, who provides them the same task as Rubina in the Prologue, but instead the player must collect five of each plant instead of three.^[8] If the player chooses the Singing Mountain Clan, the player may meet the Singing Mountain herbalist Telo, who provides the same quest as Satra.^[9]
