"Out observation, thankfully distant, has been that Jacen Solo became a nryghat—a monster of nightmares, the sort that haunts the dreams of children. But he was not always so."
―Tila Mong, on Darth Caedus[1]

A nryghat was a frightening monster that haunted children's nightmares in the Kel Dor language.[1] In 43 ABY,[2] the Kel Dor Baran Do sage Tila Mong described the Human Darth Caedus—formerly the Jedi Jacen Solo who had fallen to the dark side of the Force—as a nryghat when discussing with Jedi Luke Skywalker about the Baran Do techniques that Caedus had learned. Tila Mong contemplated whether his transformation into a being of evil was due to learning such techniques, which may have had a damaging effect on Humans who were otherwise virtuous beings.[1]

Behind the scenes

The nryghat was introduced in 2009's Fate of the Jedi: Outcast, written by Aaron Allston as the first entry to the Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi series.[1]
