Niobi was a female Human subject obtained by Sly Moore, servant of Darth Sidious, for a series of biological experiments the Dark Lord of the Sith ordered scientists Mammon Hoole and Borborygmus Gog to carry out.
The experiment did not go as planned, however—Niobi gave birth to a three-eyed mutant and both mother and child were spirited away by Sarcev Quest.
Behind the scenes
According to Abel G. Peña, Niobi was named after the character of Niobe from the show Rome (played by Indira Varma) due to George Lucas being a fan of the show.[3]
