New Balosar was a planet in the Expansion Region, located on the Great Gran Run. It shared its name with the Core Worlds planet Balosar,[2] the homeworld of the eponymous sentient species.[4] It was the location of The Kindest Cut, a beauty salon run by Zenn Bien, the former owner of the Millennium Falcon.[3]
History
- "There’s a story on Nar Shaddaa about a Hutt crime lord who wanted to open a death-stick processing plant on New Balosar. The Hutt figured that the Balosars’ immunity to toxins would make them ideal workers. What happened, though, was that the Balosars kept consuming all the balo mushrooms he delivered without turning a single batch into death stick extract."

New Balosar became the finest iteration of its namesake world
The planet's polluted namesake world in the Core had, by the end of the Republic era, become a haven for criminals and death stick addicts, but the new iteration in the Expansion Region had remained unspoiled and was arguably the most tolerant and crime-free planet in its sector of the galaxy. Some of that had been due to the soporific substances that had drawn visitors from across the galaxy, but the planet's youth culture had been equally responsible. Many of the young who had come were artists whose dreams of success had often taken a backseat to languor. They found contentment in New Balosar's pleasant climate, delicious and inexpensive cuisine, abundance of sensual entertainments, and the continuous pulse of subsonic music – everything one could have asked for from life.[3]
A story once circulated on Nar Shaddaa that a Hutt crime lord had established a death stick factory on New Balosar, employing Balosars who were resistant to the toxins. However, the Balosars allegedly ate the delivered balo mushroom instead of using them to produce the death stick essence. The hair salon of the Sullustan woman Zenn Bien was also located on the planet, which was why, in 43 ABY, Tobb Jadak and Flitcher Poste visited her to learn more about the history of the Millennium Falcon, which she had once owned.[3]
