Neuritic carbide was a chemical gas responsible for the worst industrial accident in the history of Coruscant in the Dacho District around 722 BBY. Investigations into the incident revealed rumors that the part of the massive Dacho factory site reportedly dedicated to purchasing biological fluid from economically disadvantaged immigrants to the Republic capital to be processed into nutrients was actually processing the immigrants themselves into nutrients. A chemical explosion deep below the surface filled the factory corridors with neuritic carbide, killing 300,000 of the plant's workers who had become trapped in the labyrinthine facility. Though Dacho's wealthy corporate executives denied the rumors, the incident was classified and all records sealed. Dacho's executives withdrew to other parts of the galaxy and the district was removed from Coruscant's power grid and left a Dead Sector.[1]
