- "I think that's a modified A3L-N sentinel droid in a bulked-up chassis."
"I thought they were recalled decades ago."
"They were, but when has that stopped anyone? Point is, I can slice into its neural harness if I can get my hands on it." - ―Chelli Lona Aphra and Ariole Yu
A neural harness was a part that could be installed in droids. The customized model of the A3L-N sentinel droid used by Crimson Dawn on their Fortress-Flagship, the Vermillion, contained a neural harness.[1] In 3 ABY,[2] the rogue archaeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra, who had been imprisoned on the Vermillion, sliced into the neural harness of one of the droids and turned its cannon onto Crimson Dawn member Gallin Crae. After Crae refused to tell Aphra where to find the belongings of her and her companions, and how to escape the ship without being noticed, Aphra fired on Crae.[1] The assassin droid IG-11 had a neural harness, of which little remained after it was shot by Din Djarin on Arvala-7. Because of this, the reconstruction undertaken by Kuiil was difficult, but the Ugnaught was able to reprogram the unit to serve as a nurse droid.[3]
