A nesting chamber or nesting cell was located inside the underground caverns beneath the Path of the Open Hand compound on the planet Dalna.[1] The cell was used by the Kessarine Ferize and her partners Fel Ix and Er Dal to incubate their eggs, kept dark and warm per their preference. Like the rest of the caves, the chamber was made of dark-pink stone, but had veins of sun opal in the walls and ceiling. The floor of the chamber was fine gravel.
When the underground caverns flooded, the Kessarine were still living in the nesting chamber. Fel Ix escaped to the surface, but his partners and children were trapped in the cell until Marda Ro and Kevmo Zink helped rescue them. The cell was fully repaired after the flood had subsided, and the Kessarine family moved back in. When the Mother unleashed the Leveler on Zink and his master Zallah Macri, Zink did not initially die but made his way to the nesting chamber, where he died in Ro's arms. Azlin Rell later found Zink's remains in the chamber.[1]
