Nasmyth was a tractor beam operator who served the Galactic Empire's 7th Fleet aboard Grand Admiral Thrawn's flagship, the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Chimaera, and operated Tractor Five.[1] In 1 BBY,[2] Thrawn taught Nasmyth and four other tractor beam operators how to execute a slingshot maneuver, which consisted of propelling TIE fighters toward an enemy starship's bow with a tractor beam.[1]
