- "Pirates are vile and dangerous."
- ―Hanna S'kiyah, to a spacer
The Naboo pirates were a pirate group active in the Naboo system during the Galactic Civil War.
Description
- "I be admirin' the bravery of 'dem pirates. Kidnappin' nobles, keepin' 'em locked up fer ransom. Hmm.. I bet yer hankerin' ta find where they be keepin' dem nobles."
- ―Ketter Yaaran, to a spacer
The Naboo pirates were based in a bunker located in the Gallo Mountains, on the planet Naboo.[3] Their main activity was the kidnappings of wealthy people in order to get ransom.[5] They were also present in the Naboo system. In space battles, the pirates flied Kihraxz assault fighters and M3-A Scyk fighters.[1][2]
History
- "Those pirates have been a thorn in my side for too long. Maybe now they'll back off."
- ―Vance Groten, to a spacer
After the Battle of Yavin, the pirates kidnapped several Naboo noble all over the planet and kept them prisoners in the Pirate Bunker for ransom.[5] People captured included Demitri Firewatcher's master,[7] Hanna S'kiyah's sister,[4] and even several members of the royal family.[8] Demitri Firewatcher therefore solicited the help of a spacer while he was in the city of Keren to rescue his master. Firewatcher used rumors of treasure in the bunker to further catch the spacer's interest and recommended that a group be formed to overwhelm the more numerous pirates.[7] In the meantime, Hanna S'kiyah also begged a spacer in Theed to rescue her sister because she did not have enough money to pay a ransom.[4] A spacer also met a man known as Ketter Yaaran in the Kaadara cantina to get information about the pirates and their bunker.[5]

In 1 ABY,[9] the pirates suffered a major setback when they lose several starfighters, including their leader Rezunin Starwing, during an engagement with the Naboo Planetary Defense.[2]
Soon thereafter, a number of pirates were recruited by the wanted murderer Hunnos Jarkey after he escaped the Royal Naboo Security Forces. However, Jarkey and all pirates were killed during a RSF assault on Hunnos Jarkey's Ranch.[10] Later, Vance Groten recruited RSF agents to eliminate a group of Naboo pirates near the city of Dee'ja Peak.[6]
The same year, Jabba the Hutt's bounty hunter Bronell dispatched a spacer to the pirate bunker in order to retrieve information about a CorSec officer who owned money to Jabba, as well as to the pirates.[11]

- ↑ The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
