- "No point doing that. You might as well throw your credits down a well."
"Listen, I grew up in Canto Bight around the race tracks. Not my first time betting on the fathiers. I'm good."
"Well! Maybe you think they still have this thing called "integrity", but take it from me, we ran out. Used to be able to win the races just by being the best jockey." - ―Morin Bryte to Kay Vess
Morin Bryte was a champion fathier jockey from the planet Cantonica. Bryte was forced into retirement by Crimson Dawn after he refused to throw a race for them.[1]
In 3 ABY[2], Bryte met the Scoundrel Kay Vess while she was betting on a Canto Cup race in the city of Mirogana on the moon Toshara. Bryte complained to Vess about the races being fixed but ultimately gave Vess a hint on which fathier would win the next race.[1]
During that same year, hoping that he could return to racing, he begun secretly trained a fathier. When he next met Kay Vess, he asked her if she could help him race again. After Kay fixed things with Crimson Dawn, she became a sponsor for Bryte, giving him 700 credits for a new fathier license. To thank her, Bryte let her name the fathier, which she named Trailbrazer, after her ship[1]
With that, Bryte was then able to take part in the Canto Cup in the city Canto Bight on Cantonica, which was watched via hologram and bet upon by the scoundrel Kay Vess.[1]
Behind the scenes
Morin Bryte appeared in a hologram in the 2024 Massive Entertainment video game Star Wars Outlaws and is part of two intel quests that occur in the game. The first randomly begins after the player interacts with the fathier betting terminal in Mirogana. The second quest will begin sometime later when the player interacts with Bryte standing near the terminal.[1]
