Moon fish were a type of fish edible by tooka cats.[1] In 230 BBY,[2] Jedi Knight Yacek Sparkburn cooked moon fish in the Jedi temple on[1] the Outer Rim[3] planet Dalna which he then placed into a woven bag with fruits among other items in other bags. As Sparkburn approached a group inside the temple's while carrying the bags, the temple's tookas flocked to him wailing piteously, causing the Knight to laugh. Sparkburn then stated that cats the must have smelt the moon fish he had brought, before introducing himself to Jedi Knight Vernestra Rwoh and her Padawan, Imri Cantaros.[1]

Moon fish were mentioned in the 2022 junior novel The High Republic: Mission to Disaster, written by Justina Ireland and published as part of the Star Wars: The High Republic multimedia project's[1] Phase I.[4]
