The Monitor was originally mentioned in the online authorial FAQ of Michael P. Kube-McDowell, author of the Black Fleet Crisis trilogy, rather than in the novels of that series, but this information was retrospectively added to the published canon in sources such as The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
