The Monedes'mai Hypercanal was a trade route used by the Bith,[2] a sentient species native to the planet Clak'dor VII.[3]
History
In around 5500 BBY, Tapani sector merchants,[2] especially Herglics and Givin, linked hundreds of preexisting praediums in the southern quadrant of the galaxy to form the first leg of the Rimma Trade Route.[4] During that time, Sullustan merchants discovered the Tapani sector, leading their homeworld Sullust, in the Brema sector of the Outer Rim Territories, to join the Galactic Republic.[5] The Rimward leg of the Rimma Trade Route was then blazed by Sullustan pilots and Givin cartographers.[4]
The Tapani sector and the Bith homeworld Clak'dor VII were connected by the Rimma Trade Route
In around 3000 BBY, the Tapani sector trade lanes were connected with the Monedes'mai Hypercanal, a route used by the Bith,[2] a sentient species native to the planet Clak'dor VII,[3] in the Mayagil sector of the Outer Rim Territories.[1] This connection marked the formation of the modern Rimma Trade Route.[2]
With the Rimma Trade Route connecting the Tapani sector and Clak'dor VII, members of the Bith species were commonly seen in the Freeworlds Territory during the Imperial Period.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Monedes'mai Hypercanal was first mentioned in the The New Essential Guide to Characters, a 2002 reference book written by Daniel Wallace.[2]
Although The New Essential Guide to Characters dates the connection between the Tapani sector and the Bith route to 3000 BBY,[2] the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, co-written by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, shows the Rimma Trade Route already blazed to Clak'dor VII, Sluis Van and Elrood by 4000 BBY. The Essential Atlas also shows a completely charted Rimma Trade Route during the blazing of the Hydian Way around 3700 BBY.[4]
