Model Ds were a submodel of the R2-series astromech droids. R2 astromechs of this model were considered extremely versatile and particularly adept at astromechanical or stellar navigation. While they boasted a good reputation, they were also considered to be a little erratic. The most notable model D R2-series was R2-D2.
