At some point prior to the Battle of Hoth in 3 ABY,[4] the smuggler Han Solo hired the bounty hunter Beilert Valance, and tasked him with escorting Vharn, an engineer carrying the schematics for a shield generator, to the Rebellion's rendezvous point aboard Home One.[3]
