Missile cruiser was a term used to describe ships belonging to one of the myriad cruiser classes whose primary armament consisted of missile launchers rather than energy weapons or along side them.

History

Well known classes in the missile cruiser role included the purpose-built Broadside-class cruiser kdb-1 and the modified Marauder-class corvette.^[1] Some variants of both the Consular-class space cruiser^[2] and the Galactic Alliance frigate^[3] were modified to serve as missile cruisers.
