The PDT-8 was a mini rig.
Mini rig was the name given to a category of small vehicles. The PDT-8 Personnel Deployment Transport was considered a mini rig.[1]
Behind the scenes
The term "mini rig" is a reference to the PDT-8 originating as one of the vehicles from Kenner's Mini-Rigs toys.[2] Though many of those vehicles appeared in fiction,[3] no others were called mini rigs.
